Can-Am Weekend Wrap — Kyle Evans Wins the 2026 Finale
Sun, May 31, 2026

The 2026 Alberta Extreme Sprints season opened May 8 and 9 at Rad Torque Raceway with nine cars in the pits both nights.
Night One was cut short — after Mat Dussault (#97) won the only completed heat race, the main was canceled due to a lighting issue at the speedway, ending the evening early.
Night Two ran the full show: two heats and a main. Johnny Wiersma (#34) won Heat One, Dussault doubled up in Heat Two, and the feature came down to a battle between the two of them. Wiersma sealed the deal, with Paul Rolo (#2R) hanging on for third despite hitting the wall in turn four while coming to the checkered flag.
Robert Lavalle (#00) made his series debut Saturday, while Matt Preece missed Night Two with mechanical damage from the opener. Several teams fought engine troubles and front-end damage across the weekend — a true season-opening shakedown.
